ABOUT THE ROLE
A System Support & Facility Engineer's job is to determine problems within specific systems. The System Support & Facility Engineer Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure & applies engineering principles and techniques to optimize the facility engineering in a manufacturing environment to meet organizational objectives. Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools. Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
His/her work includes ensuring proper installations, renovations, and maintenance of facilities to minimize production delays & implement network solutions for facility capability monitoring.
In addition, the System Support & Facility Engineer leads facility improvement projects and develops a robust facility maintenance plan in accordance with organisational objectives also required to ensure compliance with workplace safety, health, and other regulatory requirements in his/her line.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • • Understanding the client's requirements and specifications.
  • • Gathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports.
  • • Determining facility and equipment specifications.
  • • Analyzing project costs and preparing budgets.
  • • Designing and overseeing the implementation of facility expansion, layout, various systems, and quality controls.
  • • Evaluating operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
  • • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
  • • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
  • • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
  • • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
  • • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
  • • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • • Developing processing plans and optimizing resource allocation.
  • • Planning and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities.
  • • Coordinating and overseeing contractors performing maintenance activities.
  • • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
  • • Preparing detailed facilities reports and compliance documentation.
  • • Performing maintenance and repair work on mechanical and electrical facilities equipment.
  • • Coordinating with contractors to determine schedules, materials, and labor needs for projects.
  • • Performing cost analyses on potential projects to determine their feasibility.
  • • Staying abreast of the latest updates in the facilities industry.

QUALIFICATION
  • • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering. or a related subject.
  • • At least 2 years of experience as a System, support & facilities engineer or in a similar role.
  • • Experience with Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX, AutoCAD, SAP, and MS Office.
  • • Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.
  • • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • • Exceptional ability to work for long periods.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • • Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux-based environments.
  • • Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX)
  • • Solid Cloud experience, preferably in AWS
  • • Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
  • • Experience with monitoring systems
  • • Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, CFEngine, Chef)
  • • Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
  • • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
  • • Professional skills in AutoCAD, SAP, and MS Office.
  • • Knowledge of the building process and construction principles.
  • • Outstanding experience working on AV designs and IT network designs.
  • • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • • Project management skills. Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
